The way Stuart Cloete, the well known South African author, wrote his name is the same as his signature, so one can say this is a "Signed" book. Close-up images have also been provided of some of the pencil annotations. Those with samples of Cloete's handwriting will be able to decide whether or not he was the author of the annotations. CONDITION DETAILS: The binding is worn, head and tail of the spine are chipped and the hinges are tender. The differing colour of the leather corners indicates that they were repaired in the past. The front paste down has a name in pen plus an ownership stamp. Pencil marks and a few pencil words and comments. A few of the plates have come loose and need to be tipped back in. There is a bit of spotting/foxing throughout.
