How it works

234 pages, frontispiece - A Masai Warrior, 30 plates, numerous black and white and sepia toned photographs, map, light blue cloth with vellum spine, titled gilt on the upper cover and spine, corners bumped, starting to wear at the corners and the hinges, edges uncut, a very good copy.

Inscription on the front free end paper reads: To William B. Mushon. I would like to think that you may enjoy this book as much as I have guns. Frederick S. Colburn January, 1924.

Czech (Dr. Kenneth) An Annotated Bibliography of African Big Game Hunting Books 1785 – 1999, page 64: In this scarce work, the author and a companion, with Leslie Tarleton as the professional hunter travelled to British East African hunting in the Voi near Lake Natron and the Masai Mara. Leopards were bagged, but shots at lions missed, hence the book's title. Impala gazelle, oryx and eland were also collected.
