First edition. 2 volumes. Volume I: 260 pages, colour frontispiece of the artist, 7 colour plates, 2 maps, 21 of wash drawings and all the 'marginal' drawings from Jock of the Bushveld including the corrected versions of the dung beetle and the 'bank exploit'. Volume II: xxvi + 218 pages, colour frontispiece, 44 colour plates each preceded by a page of descriptive text, edges dyed red – there is a slight defualt in the dyed edge of volume 2, bound in quarter red leather titled gilt with decoration on the spines, oatmeal buckram boards with a decorative gilt device of Caldwell's initials on the upper covers and the publisher's device stamped blind on the back covers, patterned endpapers, slight mark at the top of the upper cover of volume 11, a very good set

Volume 1 is titled Jock - the art of Edmund Caldwell with an illustrated biography by Jane Meiring and additional colour plates.

Volume 11 is titled The art of Edmund Caldwell. Descriptive text by Dr. Frank Bradlow; Description of the animals by Dr. Dale Kenmuir.
