Volume one is copy number 43 and volume two is copy number 63 of 75 copies bound in the de luxe binding. This set is volume numbers 8 and 9 of the Africana Collectanea Series, which was limited to 750 copies of which 75 were specially bound in the "de luxe" leather binding. Original brown leather spines and corners with green title labels on the spines with gilt titling and the publisher's device on the upper boards. This is a facsimile of the 1887 edition published by J. C. Juta. The first volume has xviii prelims, 440 pages, a frontis portrait and a folding map. The second volume has viii prelims, a folding map, 487 pages and 10 index pages.
CONDITION DETAILS: A few signs of light use. An attractive set with one flaw: The end papers are very browned. The browning on one of the folding maps is minor by comparison.
