Sixth impression: 463 pages, 8vo (225 x 162 mm), colour frontispiece, 56 colour plates, diagrams, blue cloth titled gilt on the spine, some spotting on the edges, a good copy in the dust jacket which is worn at the edges, now preserved in a Brodart protector.
The first edition of this work was published 8th June 1940 and the second impression on 17th December of the same year. This is the 6th impression published in 1948.
On the front paste down end paper is a pasted in tribute “In Memorium” to Dr Roberts who passed away between the 5th and 6th impressions of the publication of this book on 5 May 1948.
