This book is the publicationof 176 paintings by C. G. Finch-Davies. At the time of his death in 1920, this outstanding bird artist had illustrated 380 of the bird species of southern Africa in over 1000 paintings. His tragic circumstances towards the end of his life wre caused by a mental aberration that motivated him to steal plates from the Transvaal museum. An illogical deed when his own paintings were of a better quality.
The text of the book by Alan Kemp is an authoritative account of the birdlife of Southern Africa based on the fine detail supplied by the paintings.
A heavy book which may incur additional transport costs.
