Hardback with unclipped dustcover in protective mylar sleeve.
This Second Edition, long overdue, has become possible because the cost is being shared by the Prince of Wales Museum of Western India. The text was fully televised by the author before his death in 1960. For the chapter on Marine Mammals, added later, the Bombay Natural History Society is indebted to its one-time Registrar Dr.E.G Silas and its Curator Mr J.C.Daniel. Some minor changes and additions have also been made in the text as revised by the author.
The opportunity has been taken to revise the illustrations. A set of twenty-eight plates by the well-known artist M.Paul Barruel, depicting 138 species of animals, replaces the original coloured illustrations. Besides, there are several new monochrome plates, the originals of which were generously placed at our disposal by the owners of the copyright, to whom acknowledgement has been made in the appropriate place.
Half Title, Title, Contents, Illustrations-Map-Monochrome Plates, Preface to First Edition, Preface to the Second Edition.xxii plus 323 pages text, addenda and index.
