Third Edition, Hardcover Octavo, bound in Three-quarter red leather with marbled-paper sides, all edges marbled and has 238 pages. Decorative gilt design on the front/back boards and to the spine.

Head and heel bumped/chipped and has a lot of rubbing on the front/back boards and along the edges of the boards. Scratch marks can be seen on the front/back boards; corners are a bit bent, and has some tape along the spine.

The Cape and the Kaffirs: A diary of five years residence in kaffirland; with a Chapter of Advice to Emigrants, Based on the Latest Official Returns, and the Most Recent Information Regarding the Colony, with a black and white frontispiece and a fold-out map of the Seat of war.

Marbled front/back pastedowns and endpapers, front board hinge is slightly loose. Overall, the book and the binding are in good condition.
