This volume contains a description of the Cape Colony, with data of every kind, articles upon agriculture, viticulture, and many notes and hints for the benefit of farmers new to the country.
A detailed account is given of each division in the Cape, with appendices which traverse almost every subject which might need attention or investigation of new-comers. Several maps show the rainfall throughout South Africa, while others give the distribution of sheep, goats, horned cattle, horses, and ostriches over the colony.
