12 text pages and 119 annotated illustrations. With an introduction by A. Gordon-Brown. In white-brown cloth and gilt title to the spine.

D'oyly was a fine draughtsman with a manifest love for landscape and an observant eye for people and their daily activity. He obviously became very attached to Cape Town (where he lived while on leave from India) and recorded his impressions with sympathy, accuracy and with sensitive technique.

Faithful reproductions of each of the drawings in the album are presented in this book, together with the descriptive caption recorded by D'oyly himself.
