Quarto (225mm x 287mm) hardcover book bound in the original publisher’s black cloth binding with gilt title to spine; in a colour photographic dust-wrapper. Both binding and wrapper are in good condition but with shelf wear to the bottom. Pages 1to 10 are preliminary 11 to 240 are text; no index; profusely illustrated in black and white and colour photographs and maps. Photographic end-papers.

From the mid 1950s onwards helicopters have become ever more important in counter-insurgency and non–conventional warfare. Before that time they were mainly used for casualty evacuation, observation and other such roles. This book gives a very good review of the use of helicopters in African warfare of the past several decades.
