A very nice matching leather bound set of the 1st editions of these two well known works. Comprising:
1. The Comic History of England. 2 Vols. The Punch Office. 1847/1848. 1st. Edition. Together these volumes contain 20 wonderful hand-coloured steel engravings and 240 woodcut illustrations by John Leech. Finely bound in full brown calf with 5 raised bands and extensive gilt decoration including inner gilt dentelles and marbled endpapers. Some light edge wear but still a very attractive very good plus copy.
2. The Comic History of Rome. Bradbury and Evans. (1851). 1st. Edition. 1st. Issue. This volume containing a further 10 coloured steel engravings and 98 woodcuts in the text. Uniformly bound with the above 2 volumes with the original cloth bound in at the rear in similar near fine condition.
