First edition, first printing of the wonderfully illustrated Rackham edition. Colour frontis plus a further 11 colour plates, on gloss paper, all with captioned tissue guards. All plates present and in excellent condition. Further text illustrations, chapter headings and tailpieces. Pictorial end-papers. Fine green cloth with gilt lettering and leaping fish illustrations on spine and upper board, gilt still bright. Top edge also gilt.
Minor wear at spine-ends and fore-corners, Very light off-setting and discolouration on first and last few pages, two small ownership signatures on front end-paper. Very tight and square - a very attractive copy.
