Hardback with clipped dustcover over original pink boards.

Mr Lobster was curious. For sixty-eight years he had lived at the bottom of the ocean, but before he shed his sixty-eighth shell he was determined to defy his friends of the seabed, and explore the land. 'Life would be uninteresting if we knew exactly what we were going to do to-morrow' he once said, but from the time that he was pulled out of the Two Mile river by Mr. Badger, life grew more and more interesting.

After the terrifying adventure with Mr. Bear, who but for the gallant intervention of the Badger, would have boiled him alive, the strange trio became firm friends. All prove themselves heroes. Mr. Badger for saving Mr. Lobster from the pot, Mr Lobster for bravely pulling home the boat when a storm breaks the oars, Mr. Bear for saving Mr. Lobster from getting ' dried up' when he loses his way in the wood and has to be rushed to the beach.

Mr Hatch does not laugh at his three strange characters, he tells their story as they might have related it to him, a smile would have spoilt everything, but the readers of this book will be far from Two Mile, and need not be afraid of being overheard as they chuckle and laugh over the glorious gravity of this ridiculous book.
