This is an extremely rare copy of this precious work, hard to find selling on internet and rarely appears on auctions!

This book contains all important facts and statistics about the Deep-Level Mines of the Rand (Crown Deep, Langlaagte Deep, Durban Roodepoort Deep, Jumpers Deep, Geldenhuis Deep, Roodepoort Central Deep, Robinson Deep, Village Main Reef, Simmer and Jack, Nourse Deep, Durban Deep, Tudor, Witwatersrand Deep, Angelo Deep, Rose Deep, Glen Deep, New Primrose, Princess Estate, etc.), their exploation technologies and equipment, valuation of mines, etc.

This scarce book sell together with 2 original sephia photographs - one of photos showing one of Deep-Level's collar mine (mouth of mine), with mining equipment, workers and engineer; another one showing a man (mine owner?) with a two dogs. With the book added (from ex-owner) 3 loosely inserted leaves from "The Colliery Guardian and Journal of the Coal and Iron Trades" of September, 1918; and one loosely inserted leaf from 11th July, 1918 titled "The Mount Morgan Gold Mining Company, Ltd. (Incorporated in Queensland, Australia)" by E. Habben, London Secretary to the Shareholders.

Original gilt titled buckram; Text in English; Collation complete - Tilte page, [xii], [10] advertisment pages,170 pages, with 7 diagrammatical plates (most folding), plus 34 diagrams in the text; Binding is tight and firm, spine sunned, some light bumps and wear. Text block/pages very bright and clear, very rare light foxing, about 15 pages with pencilled calculations in the margins throughout. All folding plates are in excellent condition. Overall the condition is very good.
