Signed and dated on front endpaper by Fynn's grandson. No. 637 of an edition limited to 1700 copies.

Written between 1824 and 1836, the diary tells the story of the first white settler in Natal. Fynn rapidly learnt the Zulu language and had a good relationship with King Shaka and the Zulu people.
