Dower's Early Annals has long been out of print and is now a rare item of Africana. This facsmile edition is both an important work-the fullest published source for many of the events it records-and entertaining reading. Above all, it provides an account of a still much neglected people: the Griquas of East Griqualand. Their occupation of 'Nomansland'. the annexation of 1874 and their 'rebellion' in April 1878 are all vividly described by one who was their missionary and lived among them for twenty years.
