Second edition: 206 pages + 16 pages publisher's catalogue as well as on the front and back endpapers, frontispiece map, Weales Rudimentary series blind stamped on the upper cover, with the title gilt, paper spine title with no 157 and 2s. printed on it, blind stamped with the publisher's crest on the back cover with watermarks at the top, a good copy.

Mendelssohn (Sidney) South African Bibliography volume 1 page 976: This work forms one of the series of practical handbooks issued under the title of "Weale's Series," and it gives "a description of the rise, progress, and condition of the South African Colony of Natal." There is a chapter entitled "The Settler's Life and Position" which affords the intending emigrant valuable information, and the publication contains many particulars respecting the industries and resources of the Colony.
