The First Folio of Shakespeare, Norton facsimile

Norton & Company, Inc., New York, 1968. 35 x 24 cm., First edition in this form, xxvii, blank, half title, blank, 928 pp., Title page in two colors, introduction, photographic facsimile of the best page in the Folger Library for each page, variant pages illustrated, Half red morocco and red cloth with gilt lettering and decorations, top edges gilt, original red cloth slipcase, fine. As printing of the First Folios proceeded, proofs were read and corrections were made. The uncorrected sheets were not thrown out, but were mixed in with the corrected ones,so no two First Folios, of which there are 240 in existence, are identical. This edition reproduces pages from 29 of the most satisfactory copies, out of the 82 now in the Folger Shakespeare Library.
