A 47pp. booklet plus Index on this now very topical subject and indicating that this problem that Cape Town now experiences is not a new one! From the author's closing paragraph "The one outstanding fact to be remembered is that we will have within a year or so, a population of 200,000 people in the Peninsula, and only four million gallons of water to distribute amongst them every day, whereas we ought to have eight million gallons in order to provide for all the requirements of the community.............". And from the Preface "An adequate water supply is the most important Municipal question at present before the people of the Cape Peninsula: without exaggeration it is a matter of life or death to many of its inhabitants ............". The author was the Chairman of The Joint Water Committee and gives a thorough and detailed analysis of the problem.
In the original red wraps. Contains 3 very attractive folding maps/charts. Some oxidation/staining around the staples, otherwise a very good copy. "With the Author's Compliments" slip tipped in next to the title page. An unusual item.
