With twenty-four coloured plates by F.W.Frohawk and frontispiece by Dr P.P. Sushkin.

First edition. 198 pages, 24 coloured plates and text illustrations, foxing throughout, fore edge and bottom edges uncut, top edge gilt, green cloth boards titled gilt on the upper cover and spine, corners slightly bumped, a good copy.

Sergei Nikolaevich Alphéraky (1850–1918) was a Russian ornithologist and entomologist.

From the preface: This work is the English translation of his Gusi Rossi, published in Russia in 1904.
