3 volumes: Published weekly: bound in half blue cloth with matching marbled boards, titled gilt on the spine, a good set.

Published in London and covers in detail articles on the Anglo Boer War with numerous black and white illustrations.

Greenwall (Ryno) Artists and Illustrators of the Anglo-Boer War, Fernwood Press, Cape Town, 1992, page 56, Numerous war artists worked contributed to The Golden Penny including 'George Soper who worked principally for The Golden Penny 'The Illustrated Weekly Family Journal' which was also published by The Graphic. Among his other paintings Soper contributed an illustration each week to the series Heroes of the war.'
