An account of the authors second expedition into the Sudan to explore the hydrology

of the Bhar el Ghazal and the forests of the Nile, and to collect plant specimens.

Exploration areas include Khartoom, Bongoland, Nganye, Nubia, Diamvonoo. Schweinfurth also describes in detail wild animals such as the Central African Bastard Gemsbok, Chimpanzee, waterbock, bush antelope, African elephant.
