Original cream boards with gilt blocking and vignette to front board, and gilt lettering to spine. Marbled endpapers.
The task of taking up after a long interval the work bequeathed by the late Lieut.-Colonel C.W. Williams Wynn, M.P., to his successors in the Regiment has been rendered difficult by the very scanty records that are available beyond those supplied by the official gazettes and files of the local newspapers.
The task however, has been attempted and our grateful thanks are due to the Secretary of the Powysland Club (Mr. T. Simpson Jones) for permission to reprint the papers written for the " Montgomeryshire Collections" by the late Lieut.-Col. C.W. Williams Wynn, M.P.
These papers appear practically in their entirety, though their order has been somewhat altered to allow further particulars to be inserted.
To Mr. Benson Freeman we are also indebted for much labour and research and especially for the details and plates of the many uniforms worn by the Yeomanry in the hundred years of existence.
We would also take this opportunity to expressing our gratitude to all those who have kindly helped us with notes, pictures, and uniform, and especially to Mr Peter Arthur Beck of Relydan, for the account of the Body of Volunteers raised in 1860 in which corps he served from its raising to its disbandment, to Col. E. Pryce-Jones and Lieut.-Col. Sir Lennox Napier for the information relating to our present Territorial Infantry and to Major J. Marshall Dugdale for so cheerfully undertaking the onerous duty of seeing these Records through the Press.
