The History of the British South Africa Police. Combined edition.

Volume One - "The First Line of Defense " 1899-1903 by Peter Gibbs.

Volume Two - "The Right of the Line" 1903-1939 by Peter Gibbs.

Volume Three - " The End of the Line" 1939-1980 by Hugh Phillips.

"The History of the British South Africa Police" is contained in two parts: the abridged and updated twin histories by the late Peter Gibbs, from the hardship of settlement in 1889 to the outbreak of World War II in 1939, as originally published in his now-rare early 1970s volumes: and by Hugh Phillips whose painstaking research covers the equally tumultuous years from 1940 to 1980.

It is  a story of men and women who made a new and raw country their home, and gave service to it, many with their lives. It is a tale of fun and glamour, yet of triumph and tragedy. But, above all, it is completely factual.

This illustrated history combines a profusion of facts with humour and, at times, pathos of a singular and outstanding Police Force. It is a tale that needed to be told. 423 pages text with supporting photographs, images, data and information.
