viii + 392 pages, chromolithographic frontispiece and 49 chromolithographic plates, wood cut illustrations in the text, half brown leather with cloth sides, marbled edges. The leather is worn along all the edges and at the corners, the hinges are split but holding firmly on the ties, 2 leaves are loose with frayed edges, several pages affected by damp and are stuck together, 80 mm tear at the bottom of the title page, the coloured plates are bright and the text is free of foxing.
