86 pages, folio, frontispiece - photogravure portrait of Lord Roberts, 7 other photogravure plates, full page plate with portraits of the chief contributors, many other full page & other illustrations, pictorial card wrappers, slightly scuffed and worn on the spine, a good copy.

Mendelssohn (Sidney) South African Bibliography volume 2, page 375:A beautiful publication, possessing an elaborately coloured cover with the arms of the British Colonies, a full-page portrait of Lord Roberts, and groups of the most distinguished generals who took part in the South African War (1899-1 902). Amongst the photogravures are " Mafeking " and " Paardeberg," by Caton Woodville, and there is a spirited illustration of the charge of the 5th Lancers at Elandslaagte, by H. W. Koekkoek. A feature of the volume is the collection of the portraits of the chief con- tributors, literary and artistic.
