Preliminary material on the first eight pages and text on pages 9 to 205; B&W photographic frontispiece and profusely illustrated by line drawing vignettes on chapter headings and in the margins and text by C.T. Astley Maberly. Signed on front free end-paper by previous owner and a gift inscrition on the dedication page. Map end-papers.

An account of the exploits of S.C. Barnard, known as Bvekenya (he who swaggers as he walks), the greatest of all poachers. He made a colourful reputation for himself by “ivory poaching, blackbirding and outlawry” in Rhodesia, Mozambique and the north-eastern Transvaal.
