An octavo (143mmX215mm) hardcover book in the original cream coloured cloth binding with brown titles to the front and spine, in a coloured pictorial dust-wrapper, both in reasonably good condition although the dust-wrapper has damage to the top and bottom of the spine and corners (now stabilised and encased in a protective membrane). Preliminary material on the first eight pages and text on pages 9 to 205; B&W photographic frontispiece and profusely illustrated by line drawing vignettes on chapter headings and in the margins and text by C.T. Astley Maberly. Signed on front free end-paper by previous owner and a gift inscrition on the dedication page. Map end-papers.
