Mendelssohn (Sidney) South African Bibliography volume 2 page 218: The notes on the various clauses are full of interest, and serve to show that the writer was well acquainted with the life of the great statesman. There are a large number of portraits and views connected with Mr. Rhodes and his friends. Despite the differences of opinion that arose in latter years, the volume bears infinite testimony to the esteem and admiration in which the " greatest of Afrikanders " was held by the editor.
