First edition: 386 pages + 16 pages publisher's catalogue, wood engraved frontispiece, 3 engraved plates, original red cloth with watermarks and insect scarring on the covers, uncut fore-edge, watermarks at the edges of some plates, titled gilt on the spine which is frayed at the top and the bottom, simply reinforced on the end pages, a good copy.
Mendelssohn (Sidney) South African Bibliography, volume 1, page 42. After the death of Mr Andersson, his voluminous papers and notes came into the possession of Mr. L. Loyd. The volume has been compiled from these sources, and it comprises an interesting collection of anecdotes concerning the lion and the elephant and a few full-page engravings.
