424 pages, (i) imprint page, folding map printed in red and black mounted on the verso of the rear free endpaper, dark red cloth over boards, titled in gilt on the spine within a decorative ring, top edge stained red. Offsetting from the dust jacket on the endpapers, light foxing on the rear free endpaper upon which the folding map is mounted, bookseller’s ticket of The Vanguard Bookshop, Johannesburg at the bottom of the front free endpaper, original invoice from the Vanguard Bookshop loosely inserted – dated 22-XI-1954, price £1. 6s., contents very good. Dust jacket slightly sunned on the spine and with some soiling and light wear along the edges, price ‘21s net’ altered in pencil to 26/- reflecting the higher price charged in South Africa.  Printed by Jarrold & Sons Limited, Norwich.

Light off setting from the dust jacket on the endpapers, bookseller’s ticket of The Vanguard Bookshop, Johannesburg at the bottom of the front free endpaper, contents very good. Dust jacket slightly sunned on the spine and with some soiling and light wear along the edges, small hole at the top of the fold of the rear flap, price ‘21s net’ altered in pencil to 26/- reflecting the higher price charged in South Africa, Printed by Jarrold & Sons Limited, Norwich.
