First Edition: 287 pages, frontispiece, map on endpapers, 16 illustrations, brown cloth gilt, foxing on the page edges, a very good copy.

With the book-plates of Charles George Smith (Natal sugar planter, parliamentarian and Union senator) on the front paste-down endpaper, his stepson John MacGillivray, a duplicate plate of the Killie Campbell Africana Library, a label of the Natal Parks Game & Fish Preservation Board, and other illustrations pasted on the succeeding and final endpapers.

'Colonel Stevenson-Hamilton....has identified himself with that corner of South Africa (the Transvaal Low-Veld) as no other man has done.
