Nadine Gordimer was critically acclaimed as a “wonderful talent”, “a real discovery”, and “a writer of undoubted gifts” at the time this, her first novel, was published by Victor Gollancz in 1953.

The dust cover (plastic wrapped) is in fair to good condition and has chipping and small tears, mainly on the edges of the spine which has also suffered some discolouration.
The original red cloth cover (with gold lettering) and the text block are solid and in good condition.
