Published by Lawrence And Bullen, London, 1903. Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. 1903 first printing of First UK Edition. Original green cloth with gilt lettering front and spine, big gilt decoration front cover. The book has clean covers, slight darkening to spine, rubbing to corners, edges, and spine ends, otherwise no former owner marks or writing on any pages, some foxing on some of the pages opposite photo plates but no foxing on other pages, solid binding, complete with all plates-maps-pages. 

Sir Henry Hamilton Johnston, ( 1858 1927), was a British explorer, botanist, artist, colonial administrator, and linguist who travelled widely in Africa and spoke many African languages. He published 40 books on African subjects and was one of the key players in the Scramble for Africa that occurred at the end of the 19th century.
