with the Ancient Egyptians and the Greeks and continuing into

the Victorian period. An interesting history of the River Nile,

documenting the author's exploration of the river during his

time in Africa. Looking at the river itself, and the people and

cities along the river.

Sir Harry Johnston, was a British explorer. He wrote many

works on Africa,  and could speak many African languages.

He was one of the key players in the 'Scramble for Africa',

the colonisation of African territory by Western Europe.
