2 volumes bound in 5 divisions, 744 + 669 pages, the title  pages, tables of contents and indexes of both volumes are bound in at the end  of division 5, chromolithographic portrait of Livingstone at frontispiece in  division 1, 27 coloured portraits (including the major African explorers of the  day) and views, coloured folding map, numerous wood-engraved plates and  illustrations in the text, original gilt titled and decorated green cloth - the  cloth is lightly worn along the edges and at the corners, some hinges are weak,  light spotting on the page edges, the tissue guards of the plates are browned  but overall the text is bright.
