The Imperial Military Railways (IMR) were formed from an amalgamation of Orange Free State Government Railways, the Netherlands-South African Railway Company and the Pretoria-Pietersburg Railway. The IMR was commanded by Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Percy Girouard.
