First Edition Hardcover Quarto bound in red cloth boards, and has 386 pages. Gilt titling to the spine only, head/heal and corners are bumped with slight rubbing along the edges. Dust jacket in good condition and is not price-clipped, large tear on the top spine jacket, also has small tears along the corners and bottom spine.

Illustrated with a frontispiece of Menachem Begin, VIII, XIV, indexed, and an Errata slip tipped in. Unlike the American addition, this printing does not have the photographs, inscribed by the author on the half-title page, and with a typed letter signed with a handwritten note at the bottom (this is tipped onto the rear pastedown). Overall, the book and binding are in very good condition.

The book opens in a Soviet camp in Siberia, where Begin was imprisoned in 1940. It closes with the birth of the new State of Israel. In between is the record of the dramatic and stirring events by which a relative handful of devoted, daring and determine men wrested their freedom from all the powerful British might in the Middle East. If the Irgun did nothing else, it will go down in history as the progenitor of the modern fighting Jew, translated into English with notes by Ivan M Greenberg.
