The Saga of The Transvaal Scottish Regiment 1932-1950. Edited by Carel Birkby.
The Saga of the Transaavl Scottish, is the story of the Regiment from 1932 to the end of World War II, and it particularily records its notable achievements in the campaign in Somaliland, Abyssinia and North Africa. In service in the field the Regiment earned distinction and its fine tradition has been enhanced. This distinction. however. was not without sacrifice.
The "Saga" can be commended as a proud story well told, and it will a high place in Regimental histories. It describes vividly the outstanding incidents of the campaigns as well as the humorous interludes, and it is well that these incidents should not fade out of memory.
