This little album contains 25 photographs and 43 scrap book pages of newspaper cuttings relating to the salvage of the cargo ship City of Lincoln, which ran aground off Quoin Point, near Cape Agulhas on 5 November, 1946.
"The successful salvage of the City of Lincoln is the talk of the shipping world to-day. Not only has it made shipping history in South Africa, but it has been described by overseas salvage experts as one of the most notable salvage ventures ever carried out."
She was one of the few ships which survived the Malta supply run in WWII. She survived 75 air raids and an acoustic mine during 21 days. On account of her high speed she made many unescorted runs.
