A lovely miscellany of Scotland's early history including

its Celtic origins, religious beliefs, customs, the Clans with

their unique system and identifying tartan. Their weaponry

development and their distinctive Gaelic music and song is noted.

Recent quarter-leather binding with gilt titles and raised bands.

Beautiful hand-coloured plates and in-text embellishments.

The author's adept hand at diplomacy is evident in the books

dedication to William IV, King of Great Britain and Ireland at the

beginning of volume one and by placing His Majesty Louis Philippe I,

King of France at the top of the subscribers list in volume two!

A lovely set in very nice condition throughout.
