A very good copy of the first (American) edition of this fairly scarce Chandler title which comprises twelve short stories previously only published in pulp magazines and also his essay "The Simple Art of Murder". US editions of this author are uncommonly encountered in South Africa.
In the original yellow/beige cloth stamped in yellow. Ex libris on front pastedown, otherwise a very clean unmarked copy with minimal offsetting on the endpapers but no foxing. In a very good complete non price-clipped dustwrapper which has some edge wear and short tears with some internal tape edge reinforcements, one of which just extends to the outside of the wrapper. The spine is slightly sunned.
