A particularly nice copy in dw. of the first edition in English of this classic work, famously plagiarised by Maurice Maeterlinck who subsequently won a Nobel prize for his work! This is a fine unmarked copy in the original black cloth with some white decoration, although there has been some flaking of the white lettering on the spine. There is a bookplate on the front pastedown. The dw. is price clipped with some very slight sunning of the spine and small chips at the extremes of the spine and a 7mm. V chip along the top edge of the front panel.
