24pp. pamphlet. Reprinted from the South African News. Price Sixpence. Olive Schreiner's appeal on the "eve" of the Boer War. The text is the same as that in "An Englishman's View of the Situation" published the same year by Hodder & Stoughton and also published that year in the US by Charles Sergel as "The South African Question". It would appear that this pamphlet was the first printing preceding the UK and US editions. It is certainly the scarcest and most fragile format of the three. SABIB Vol.4, pp. 165.
The spine is reinforced with ? tape. The paper is browned and slightly brittle as usual. There is a 1cm. triangular chip of the fore edge of the last page and some of the pages have short closed tears. There is an ownership rubber stamp at the top of the front wrap/title page. Protected in a (supplied) glassine outer wrapper.
