Underwood & Underwood aluminum & wood stereoscope, patented June 11th 1901.

Complete with 72 stereoscope cards-The South African War through the stereoscope complete.

Two cloth covered boxes manufactured to appear to be books, with decorated and gilt lettering to the spines. The dark deep blue boxes open to access 36 cards per case. The linen boards are worn at the base and sides, there is some wear to the boxes. Boxes size 19 X 11cm each.

The stereoscope measures 31cm in length and 17.5cm at its widest.

The stereoscope cards are pasted onto a grey board and the  text for each card is printed on the reverse in English, French, German, Italian and two further languages. The title of each card appears also on the bottom right hand corner of each card in English. Cards measure 18 x 9cm each.
