Volumes 1 to 3 of the collected edition of The Spectator.
The Spectator was a daily publication lasting from 1711 to 1712. It was founded in England by Joseph Addison and Richard Steele. The original run consisted of 555 numbers. The first "number" or "paper" was issued on 1 March 1711 and ran daily for 555 numbers. It was later collected in eight volumes of which vols. 1-3 in this lot cover the numbers 1 - 251.
Full calf bindings. The bindings of vols. 2 & 3 still in very good condition, contents clean. The boards of vol.1 are detached and end papers are age darkened, internally the text is clean.
