Presentation copy to Mrs Rogers, the wife of General Bob Rogers, in 2001 – just after his death in 2000. General Rogers was assigned to 208 Squadron (RAF) in Egypt, where he flew Hurricanes and Spitfires in North Africa, Sicily, Italy and Austria. He was shot down, but managed to escape capture. In August 1942, despite having a finger shot off, he fought off 4 Luftwaffe ME 109s.He served in Korea, earned the American DFC, Air Medal with oak leaf cluster, and the Korean Chungwe Decoration. He retired in Knysna. In addition to this, the books is signed by four Spitfire pilots: Horse Sweeney – a veteran of World War II; 2 squadron, Air Operations School Dave Knoesen - has flown in 106 displays and is the only pilot to have flown in the Silver Falcons with the Impala and the Astra. A. Cooke – former aircrew 2 squadron, Air Operations School E. Downey – former aircrew, 1 squadron, Air Operations School.
