Book condition: the brown cloth boards are in very good condition, silver dagger motif on front board, and spine title in silver. The spine ends are lightly worn, with a small split at the head. The page edges and preliminaries are lightly spotted (end-papers are bright red, clean, no inscriptions). The light spotting continues sporadically throughout the text, with occasional finger-stains; the binding is still firm; 221pp.
Dust-cover condition: a good jacket (second-state, with price 16s. net), with rubbing and marking especially visible on the rear panel, spine faded, some wear to author's name at top of spine with letters 'Fl' missing. The jacket is now housed in a Brodart protective sleeve.
