First edition: 272 pages, frontispiece portrait, numerous illustrations, uncut fore-edge and bottom edge, green cloth stamped blind on the upper cover, titled gilt on the spine, a good copy in the dust jacket which is worn on the spine, now preserved in a protector hence the slight glare on the photograph.

From the introduction by H.J. Stanley: Mr Clarke's account of his experiences as one of the 'old hands' in Southern Rhodesia and in the Zambesi Valley of Northern Rhodesia throws an illuminating side light on more conventional records and I have no doubt that a large number of readers will find something to learn and much to entertain them, in the sprightly pages of his narrative.
