351 pages, colour frontispiece, 6 maps - 3 folding, 18 illustrations, green cloth gilt, top corner of the dust jacket has been cut away, a good copy.

In his preface the author states his desire to follow 'the example of good taste provided by Colonel Deneys Reitz - one of the greatest South Africans of our time - in his work "Commando", in which there is no word or phrase calculated to give offence. On the contrary, its pages contain golden tribute to a foe that pressed hard and relentlessly. It would be un-British indeed if the writer who told the story of the Imperial Light Horse struck other than a similar harmonious note in what, after all, is only the record of a great and glorious regiment. ... Truth is a jewel with many facets. Its brightness will not dim if it is gazed upon from an opposing angle.'
